Southeast Children’s Choir was born from a lifelong love of music and a deep belief in the joy and growth that happen when young voices come together in harmony. Dr. Minov joined her first choir at the age of five and never stopped singing. Those early years shaped who she is today—not just musically, but as a person. Choir gave her confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging, and now she is creating that same opportunity for children in our community.
Through the support of Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, The Southeast Valley Children’s Choir was formed in 2025 and exists to give young singers, ages 7–16, a space to grow both musically and personally. More than just a music class, this choir is a place where kids explore their voices, develop teamwork, and build friendships—while discovering the magic that happens when voices unite.
In each rehearsal, children will learn proper vocal technique, music literacy through Curwen hand signs and Solfege methodologies, while singing a wide variety of songs. They'll practice rhythm, pitch, harmony, and expression in a playful and encouraging environment. Whether we’re warming up with silly sounds or preparing for a public concert, every moment is designed to nurture musicality and self-esteem.
We offer two age-based groups—Little Wrens (ages 7–10), Hummingbirds (ages 11–13) and Eagles (ages 14-16)—each tailored to meet the needs of young developing voices. All groups experience fun, structured rehearsals and perform throughout the semester at concerts and community events.
Singing is more than a skill—it’s a powerful tool for language development, emotional expression, and memory. Through song, children expand their vocabularies, gain new perspective, and learn to listen—to themselves and to one another.
Southeast Children’s Choir is a program with a mission to uplift young voices and build community through music. Whether your child is brand new to choir or already has a song in their heart, we welcome them to a place where they’ll grow, sing, and shine—together.
